Above the Clouds is a song recorded by Electric Light Orchestra.
The song is the 7th track from their multi-platinum album A New World Record. Running for only 2 minutes and 16 seconds, it is the shortest track of the album, and is also one of the calmer tracks featuring pizzicato bass strings. It starts with Jeff Lynne singing in front of a violin. At the 20 second mark the song progresses into a soft and slightly psychedelic beat, with the music reminiscent of Brian Wilson's work on Pet Sounds. Eventually it leads into the next track, "Do Ya". On the early CD releases of A New World Record, the song was not credited in the running order, but was merged to play continuously on from "Livin' Thing"
